The Fountain of Destiny

 City of Stuttgart, Germany,

the Fountain of Destiny. The fountain shows the Goddess of Fate and two couples.

The Goddess of Fate, in Greek mythology, was the personification of fate and fortune as a goddess who ruled the luck or prosperity of a community.

"Before us, recumbent, consumed to the extreme of possibility, was the most admired and feared, most loved and hated woman of her time. She had fought fiercely against the great and now she was here, defeated by the infinitely small. Soon we will see that he should not have feared death; rather he waited for it like a guest who is received without surprise. Did he prepare to die from the rosy days of his heyday? Who did he think he found on the other shore? I only know that on the other shore is history, which not everyone can reach..."

(Author unknown, the text appeared on a small piece of paper kept in a book).

Before that testimony of power and collapse, the verses carved in the pathetic Fountain of Destiny in Stuttgart emerged from the depths of my memory:

FROM THE DARK SOURCE OF DESTINY

SPRINGS UP MUCHABLE FORTUNE

TODAY YOU ARE BIG AND POWERFUL

TOMORROW YOU ARE AT THE MERCY OF THE WAVES.
